Understanding Third-Party Data Sharing and Privacy Compliance

Monday, October 26, 2026 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

The university often relies on third party providers for certain services, that may include, but are not limited to: student information systems; instructional improvement systems; online education programs or apps etc.  These services are procured through contracts or formal written agreements, between the university and the third party providers.
In some cases,  transfers of university data (e.g. some personally identifiable information of GW community members) to third party providers are needed, in order to deliver the contracted services.

This workshop provides an overview of the privacy requirements and best practices related to sharing university data with external vendors and service providers. Participants will learn how to identify privacy risks, evaluate data-sharing scenarios, and support the secure handling of institutional and personal information.
