About us

The GW Privacy Office manages the university-wide Privacy Program, which promotes compliance with applicable privacy laws, regulations and university policies. The GW Privacy Office has several core areas of responsibility, which include privacy policies, privacy risk assessments, data incident response and records management.

All members of the university community are individually responsible for compliance with privacy laws, regulations and policies, applicable to their operational areas.

The GW Privacy Office works to support and monitor unit-specific privacy compliance, with focus on protecting the privacy and integrity of data collected, created, stored and transmitted by the University and its affiliates.

  • We create and promote policies, standards and best practices concerning data privacy and protection of the personal information of our community members.
  • We work closely with University stakeholders to apply core privacy principles and data protection requirements for safeguarding information.
Members of the GW community with privacy and data protection related questions are encouraged to contact us.  We are available and eager to speak with you.
